Real Amersfoort

Real Amersfoort

Now on view | until 21 june

A museum lives and moves. Since our founding, we've evolved with the times, the city, and the people who visit. We're constantly searching for new ways to tell stories that connect with Amersfoort and its surroundings, with our collection, and with our visitors. This presentation showcases a selection from our collection: masterpieces, key works, and objects with special stories from the city. Together, they demonstrate how our collection develops and how the museum has grown over the years.

At the same time, we always carry with us several constant elements. They form the museum's DNA: our origins in the Flehite Historical Society, our connection to the monumental building, and our place in the city. The history and stories of Amersfoort and its surroundings also remain a constant source of inspiration.

Contemporary artists add new perspectives and current themes. In this way, the museum evolves with the times while remaining firmly rooted in the foundations that have defined us for over a century. This presentation will guide you through how the museum collects, preserves, and tells the story of Amersfoort.

In this exhibition, you will find art, stories, and objects from the city. Discover modern and historic cityscapes, admire iconic buildings like the Koppelpoort and the Lieve Vrouwentoren (Our Lady's Tower), discover the Miracle of Amersfoort, and view the old model of the city center. You will also see work by renowned Amersfoort artists such as Mathias Withoos, Hendrik Jan Wolter, and, of course, Armando.
