After over 140 years of collecting, Museum Flehite now owns tens of thousands of objects. In addition to artworks of national and international significance, the collection also includes simple and emotionally significant artefacts that are greatly valued in the region. Must-see objects such as the 'prehistoric bronze-age urns, 17th-century 'View of Amersfoort' by Matthias Withoos, portrait of Leendert Nicasiusz by Jacob van Campen, the keys to the city made for emperor Napoleon, a beer keg from 1870 and a freedom dress from 1945 tell the story of Amersfoort through the centuries. These prized objects are featured on the website and regularly exhibited in the museum.
Museum Flehite's collection comprises more than 27,000 items, paintings, drawings and prints, and both everyday and valuable objects made of silver, wood, iron, paper and plastic. All objects (with the exception of several posters and our latest acquisitions) are listed in our Axiell collection registration system.
You can order hi-res versions of all photographs from our collection manager Jaap van der Meer. High resolution copies are €10.
The museum has omitted photographs of objects for which the image rights are owned by third parties.
