Carla Kogelman: A Closer Look

What happens when you truly look at someone? When you capture them in their most vulnerable, intimate moments? Amersfoort photographer Carla Kogelman – winner of the World Press Photo Award – always seeks sincerity and authenticity in her work. With her camera, she captures the essence of everyday life: love, freedom, vulnerability, family, loss, and identity.

From February 13 to September 20, 2026, Museum Flehite presents the retrospective exhibition Carla Kogelman: A Closer Look. Featuring dozens of portraits and stories from Amersfoort and beyond.

The exhibition is part of a collaboration with the Rietveldpaviljoen and the Mannenzaal, where Kogelman's work is on display simultaneously (but in separate exhibitions) for the first time.

A Doorstep Away | Mannenzaal 

In this 4 part photo series, Carla Kogelman follows residents and caregivers of St. Pieters en Bloklands Gasthuis. This series offers a unique parallel with the Mannenzaal original function as a nursing home.
